Chinese Atractylodes Root (Atractylodes macrocephala)
Actions: Stomachic, diuretic, anti-emetic, digestive tonic.
Common Uses: This herb has been used for deficiency of the spleen, physical and mental fatigue, diarrhea, edema, retention of phlegm, dizziness and vomiting. It has a pronounced and long lasting diuretic effect, inhibiting reabsorption by the renal tubules and increasing the secretion of potassium salts. It also has the ability to lower blood sugar levels, promote digestion and the essential oil present in Atractylodes possesses a sedative action. 10 to 30 drops 2-3 times daily or as needed.
