Actions: Antispasmodic, sedative, astringent, muscle relaxant, cardiac tonic, uterine relaxant, anti-inflammatory.
Common Use: Also known as Guelder Rose and Black Haw, Cramp Bark is a well-known muscle relaxant. It also sedates the nervous system, and is useful when physical and emotional tensions combine. Typical symptoms include tense, raised shoulders and tight breathing. It relaxes the cardiovascular system in high blood pressure and eases constipation associated with tension. Applied externally, it relieves muscle cramps.
