Golden Seal Root (Hydrastis canadensis)
Actions: Tonic, astringent, anticatarrhal, laxative, muscular stimulant, bitter, pectoral.
Common Use: Golden seal owes most of its specific uses to the powerful tonic qualities shown towards the mucous membranes of the body. It is therefore helpful in all digestive problems. Its bitter stimulation gives it a role in loss of appetite. Also known to improve all catarrhal conditions, especially those of the sinuses. 10 to 20 drops up to 4 times daily. Not recommended for long term use or if pregnant or nursing.
