Stillingia Root (Stillingia sylvatica)
Actions: Alterative, depurative, expectorant, diaphoretic, sialagogue, astringent, antispasmodic.
Common Use: This plant is an excellent alterative acting primarily on the lymphatic and secretory systems. American Eclectic physicians in the 19th century used it in cases in which an alterative could be recommended. Another area of application is in bronchitis and laryngitis, especially where it is accompanied by a loss of voice. As an astringent it may be used in a number of conditions, but especially for hemorrhoids. This herb is also included in the Hoxsey formula. 5 to 20 drops 2-4 times daily.
