Expectorant. The herbs in this formula have been used to help rid the body of
excess mucous in the respiratory system as well as excess mucous
in the bowels which can result in loss of efficiency in absorbing
nutrients and eliminating wastes. This is an ideal remedy for toning
the mucous membranes while stimulating fluid production and facilitating
expectoration. May be useful in the relief of most afflictions
of the respiratory system including coughs, bronchitis and pleurisy.

Mullein leaf and flower, Angelica root, Marshmallow root, Golden
Seal root, Licorice root, Lobelia herb, Brazilian Jatoba bark, Quebra
Pedra, Osha root, Wild Indigo root and Prickly Ash bark in a base
containing concentrated Rose Hips extract. 15 to 40 drops 2-3 time

Actions:
Expectorant, demulcent, mild diuretic, mild sedative, vulnerary.
Common Use: This herb
is very beneficial for most conditions that affect the respiratory
system. It has been used to tone the mucous membranes of
the respiratory system, reducing inflammation while stimulating
fluid production which facilitates expectoration. It has
been used specifically for bronchitis.

Angelica
root (Angelica archangelica)
Actions:
Carminative, expectorant, diaphoretic, diuretic, pectoral.
Common Use: Angelica
root finds its main use as an expectorant for coughs, bronchitis
and pleurisy, especially when accompanied by colds, fever
or the flu. Also known to ease intestinal colic and flatulence,
stimulate apetite and may be helpful in anorexia nervosa.
May be of value in easing rheumatic inflammations and in
cystitis it acts as a urinary antiseptic. Angelica root
has also been indicated in programs to help lessen the desire
for alcohol.

Marshmallow
root (Althaea officinalis)
Actions:
Demulcent, expectorant, mucilage, diuretic, pectoral.
Common Use: The high
mucilage content of marshmallow makes it an excellent demulcent
that can be used wherever such properties are called for.
In all inflammations of the digestive tract, inflammations
of the mouth, gastritis, peptic ulcer and colitis, this
root is strongly advised. Also indicated in disorders of
the kidneys and bladder.

Golden
Seal root (Hydrastis canadensis)
Actions:
Tonic, astringent, anticatarrhal, laxative, muscular stimulant,
bitter, pectoral.
Common Use: Golden
seal owes most of its specific uses to the powerful tonic
qualities shown towards the mucous membranes of the body.
It is therefore helpful in all digestive problems. Its bitter
stimulation gives it a role in loss of appetite. Also known
to improve all catarrhal conditions, especially those of
the sinuses. Not recommended for long term use or if pregnant
or nursing.

Licorice
root (Glycyrrhiza glabra)
Actions:
Expectorant, demulcent, anti-inflammatory, adrenal agent,
antispasmodic, mild laxative, alterative, antibacterial,
antimicrobial, antitoxic, tonic, pectoral.
Common Use: In China,
licorice root has been called "The Great Detoxifier." It
acts on the endocrine system and the liver as an anti-hepatotoxic
effective in treating hepatitis and cirrhosis. Also as an
expectorant and anti-inflammatory it is useful in coughs
and bronchitis. A recent study found that licorice root
actually stimulates the production of interferon, that critical
chemical in the immune system that could be the key to preventing
and treating many immune response deficiency diseases. A
group of Russian researchers have found that licorice root
inhibits the growth of certain tumors. Licorice root also
possesses estrogenic activity, and is said to be beneficial
as a uterine tonic and to induce normal ovulation. This
herb is also included in the Hoxsey
formula. Caution: Excessive and prolonged use of licorice
root can cause sodium retention and potassium depletion.
Potassium supplementation (75-100mg daily) prevents this
problem. Not recommended if nursing or pregnant.

Lobelia
herb (Lobelia inflata)
Actions:
Respitory stimulant, anti-asthmatic, anti-spasmodic, expectorant,
emetic.
Common Use: Lobelia's
specific use has been with bronchitic asthma and bronchitis.
Alkaloids present in the plant include lobeline, a powerful
respitory stimulant, and isolobelanine, and emetic and respitory
relaxant. The overall effect stimulates catarrhal secretion
and expectoration while relaxing the muscles of the respitory
system.

Brazilian
Jatoba bark (Hymenaea courbaril) Rainforest
Actions:
Tonic, energizer, anti-fungal, decongestant.
Common Uses: In the
Brazilian rainforest, Jatoba bark is considered a tonic
and energizer and is especially popular amongst Brazilian
lumerjacks to increase strength, vigor and productivity.
It is also said to be effective in the relief of a wide
range of respitory ailments including asthma, laryngitis,
bronchitis, lung weakness and chronic coughs as well as
in the relief of yeast and fungal infections, cystitis,
bladder infections, arthritis, prostatitis, bursitis and

Pedra (Phyllanthus niruri v. sp.) Rainforest
Common Use: Quebra
Pedra has traditionally been used to strengthen and fortify
the liver and gall-bladder functions by stimulating bile
production. It has been used in the alternative therapy
of hepatitis and liver problems. Quebra Pedra can also clear
obstructions throughout the system by promoting the elimination
of mucous and kidney stones. As a diuretic it will help
with all afflictions of the urinary system, stimulating
the elimination of uric acid and helping with urinary tract
infections. It may also promote health in those wiht bronchitis,

known as a strong anti-bacterial herb and is warming to
the mucous membranes and digestion. An excellent herb for
treating viral infec-ions, producing thorough perspiration
and elimination of toxins. Also for bronchial inflammations
and sore throats, the root will anesthetize almost immediately,
with expectoration.

Wild
Indigo root (Baptisia tinctoria)
Actions:
Antimicrobial, anticatarrhal, alterative, febrifuge, antiseptic.
Common Use: Wild indigo
is an herb to be considered wherever there is a focused
infection, especially infections and catarrh in the ear,
nose and throat. It may be used for laryngitis, tonsillitis,
pharyngitis and catarrhal infections of the nose and sinus.
Taken internally and as a mouthwash it will help with mouth
ulcers, gingivitis, and in the control of pyorrhea. Also
used effectively to treat enlarged and inflamed lymph glands,
the action of this plant exerts a vital influence, aiding
in metabolism by stimulating the elimination of accumulated

Prickly
Ash bark (Xanthoxylum americanum v. sp.)
Actions:
Stimulant, tonic, alterative, carminative, diaphoretic,
sialagogue, febrifuge.
Common Uses: Prickly
ash may be used in a way that is similar to cayenne, although
it is slower in action. It is used in many chronic problems
such as rheumatism and skin diseases. Any sign of poor circulation
can be benefited by the use of this herb, chilblains, cramp
