An article appearing in the Energy
Times says: "In 1993, when researchers at Cornell restricted
the diets of 26 hyperactive children by eliminating chocolate,
peanuts, soy products, yeast, corn, wheat, eggs and foods laden
with artificial colors and preservatives, they found that within
two weeks, 19 of the children started behaving more to the liking
of their parents." These foods cause allergies, which also
deplete the body of nutrients. A person who has ADD usually
craves a lot of refined sugar which depletes the body of nutrients,
especially calcium. Calcium helps to control these cravings
by stabilizing blood sugar levels. It appears that in helping
neurotransmitters to function properly, calcium, magnesium and
chromium play an integral role.
