How It Works:
Peppermint (Mentha piperita) is a universally loved and widely used flavoring found in medicines, toothpaste, candies, liqueurs, and other products. Interest in mints dates from the first century A.D., when it was recorded by the Roman naturalist Pliny. So highly thought of, years later Peppermint was included in a list of plants being taken to the New World. Peppermint?s value comes from the mint?s volatile oil, which contains menthol. Cosmetically, Peppermint makes a stimulating skin tonic and an invigorating bath. Culinary uses include mint sauces, syrups, vinegar and desserts. Peppermint also makes a refreshing tea, enjoyed both cold and hot. May be sweetened or blended with lemon or other healthful tea herbs such as Alfalfa or Linden Flowers.
Suggested Use:
The best way to make a good cup of tea is by the infusion method. Place one tea bag in a cup and add no more than 6 oz. of boiling water. Let steep for 3 minutes. Press the bag before removing to enhance the flavor. Add honey to sweeten.

Alvita TeasIn 1922, a group of alfalfa enthusiasts who believed that alfalfa's rich green foliage and deep root system contained "Vitamines" and minerals essential for good health innovated the way the plant was consumed by providing alfalfa in tea bags. The abbreviation of alfalfa and vitamins quickly led to the brand name "Alvita," and thus the Alvita Tea Company was born. |
