DEVA's Vegan Glucosamine, MSM & CMO is a Vegan Society Registered product using ingredients derived only from plant sources.
Glucosamine is a naturally occurring compound found in the human body, especially in the fluid that is around the joints. The glucosamine used in our product is derived from non-GMO corn rather than shellfish or other animals. DEVA uses only non-shellfish glucosamine. Glucosamine is considered likely effective for Osteoarthritis. Most research on glucosamine sulfate has measured its effectiveness on osteoarthritis of the knee. However, there is some evidence that it might also help osteoarthritis of the hip or spine. Some research suggests that glucosamine reduces pain of osteoarthritis in the knee about as well as the over-the-counter pain reliever acetaminophen (Tylenol). It also seems to reduce pain about as much as the nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) ibuprofen (Motrin, Advil) and piroxicam (Feldene) over time.1
MSM (Methyl Sulfonyl Methane) is an efficient source of sulfur. Sulfur is an important element for the formation of collagen in the body, and is utilized by many of the body's structural molecules. According to findings published by Arthritis Research & Therapy, "(m)oderate evidence was found for methylsulfonylmethane...effects of nutritional compounds on osteoarthritis2."
CMO (Cetyl Myristoleate) and Boswellia Herb Extract are included as additional ingredients. Non-animal CMO used in DEVA's Vegan Glucosamine, MSM & CMO is derived from plant sources rather than the usual beef tallow.
