How It Works:

Used as a common remedy at the time of Hippocrates in the 4th and 5th centuries B.C., Valerian (Valeriana officinalis) is native to Europe and Asia. Valerian derives its name from the Latin valere, mto be strong,? referring to both the health benefits of the plant and its distinct odor. It is often used for its soothing, relaxing healthful properties. Peppermint (Mentha X piperita) is a universally-loved and widely-used flavoring. Peppermintss value comes from the mint?s volatile oil, which contains menthol, and is added to many formulas for its therapeutic properties. So highly thought of, Peppermint was included in a list of plants being taken to the New World. Together, Valerian and Peppermint make a calming, relaxing tea.

Suggested Use:

The best way to make a good cup of tea is by the infusion method. Place one tea bag in a cup and add no more than 6 oz. of boiling water. Let steep for 3 minutes. Press the bag before removing to enhance flavor. Add honey to sweeten.

WARNING:
May cause drowsiness. Do not use when driving a motor vehicle or operating machinery. Do not use if you are taking sedatives or tranquilizers without first consulting a health care professional. NOT FOR THOSE UNDER THE AGE OF 18.

Alvita Teas

In 1922, a group of alfalfa enthusiasts who believed that alfalfa's rich green foliage and deep root system contained "Vitamines" and minerals essential for good health innovated the way the plant was consumed by providing alfalfa in tea bags. The abbreviation of alfalfa and vitamins quickly led to the brand name "Alvita," and thus the Alvita Tea Company was born.
